The Multi-tasking Avocado Seed
So many products on store shelves today offer you beautiful and radiant skin after exfoliation, but just as many of these products exfoliate your skin by way of tiny little plastic microbeads that are harmful for you, your body, and even more so, the environment. (Don’t believe us?! Read this article here). Some of the beads you can see with your eye, others are too small to be detected however, their effect is compounded further down the funnel as they get deposited into our water systems and do significant environmental damage in our lakes, rivers, but also on marine animals.
In our line of products, we have one significant specimen that offers awesome exfoliation, but naturally! Our Mint-Avocado-Shea soap is extremely popular and well sought-after, and our exfoliation is harmless to you and the environment. We canvass for avocado seeds from local establishments where we then begin to dry them and eventually pulverize them into a grainy format, which is later used in our soaps. The grainy texture exfoliates your skin, but there is no harm on the environment as you rinse the soap off your face and into our water system.
What does an avocado seed contain?? Though the verdict is out there whether it is healthy to consume (as food), research has shown that in the seed, one can find alkaloids (organic, nitrogen-containing ring compounds of vegetable origin that are bitter in taste and used in drugs), saponins (chemical compounds found in plants that naturally lather in water), tannins (compounds vastly distributed in many species of plants that help concentrate proteins), and flavonoids (plant chemicals responsible for bright colors in plants and food). The seed is also rich in nutrients and is known to be anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, prevent wrinkles (because they improve collagen production!) and improve your hair health (the natural oils found in the seed moisturize our hair and skin!) Using this as an ingredient in some of our products has been working really well and it is something we are definitely keen on and proud of.
