Safety Razors
Share
We pride ourselves on the type of razors we sell to our customers. We’ve expressed how we buy the wood from local suppliers but, looking at the razors themselves, do you know much about Safety Razors??
Safety razors first appeared on the shaving scene in the 1880s. They consist of a blade positioned at 90 degrees to the handle, with a protective safety device between the skin and the blade. They make look intimidating but are not at all and in fact, offer a closer and safer shave meaning, they don’t cut nor irritate the skin. They were created so that a clean and safe shave could be had a home, thereby reducing the need for professional barbers, at the time. Their vintage appearance is making a comeback, and though you may pay a bit more handsomely at the onset for one of them, replacement blades are far cheaper to replace and hence save you money in the long run.
The extent of your shave will depend on how hidden or exposed the blade is in the guard and also the angle at which the blade makes contact with your hair. The more acute or higher degree of an angle against your hair, the cleaner your shave will be. Haven’t tried one of our razors yet?? Come by one of our markets and check them out. In the meantime, watch this video and see how easy it is to use a safety razor and the benefits it brings. You'll never go back!
